House Wife: The Story Behind the Track

In the months after our wedding, life threw us into an unexpected kind of honeymoon—a road trip with no fixed destination, no mortgage, no walls. Just us, our music, and the open road. We weren’t homeless—we were house-less, and for the first time in a long time, truly free. We lived in a 35’ travel trailer, having moved out of our Capitol Hill apartment for a life on the road, traveling from gig to gig.

Our trailer wasn’t much at first, but it was ours. A rolling sanctuary where the turntables fit snugly between our desks and the kitchen. Where a laptop running Ableton and a dream could turn any parking lot into a club. Every sunset was a backdrop, every gas station was a green room, and every dance we shared on our trailer’s roof was a love letter to the life we were building together.

Somewhere between the miles and the music, House Wife was born.

As two DJs and producers who just got married, the irony wasn’t lost on us. We laughed at the idea—two newlyweds, no house, yet fully embracing our love for dance music. But instead of vacuuming floors, we were sweeping the decks. Instead of baking cookies, we were cooking up beats (and we never got the oven in the trailer to actually work anyways). House music had never felt more alive in us, and so we poured that energy into the track.

House Wife became more than just a song—it was a snapshot of that time. A celebration of love, music, and the beautiful chaos of carving out a life together, on our own terms. It was about the home we carried within us, built from basslines, devotion, and dreams that didn’t require a white picket fence to be real.

So here’s to the House Wives of the world—the ones who drop beats instead of dishes, who know that home isn’t four walls but the rhythm you move to with the ones you love.
